The Army is a complex and diverse business - so too
is the task of running it and looking after its most lethal weapon-
its personnel. This is the role of Officers and Soldiers of the
Staff & Personnel Support Branch of the Adjutant General's Corps,
trained specialists who deliver the following support to the Army:
- HR/Personnel Management. We look after the
personnel aspects of the Army's most valuable asset - over 100,000
officers and soldiers based around the world.
- Business Administration. We are involved
in almost every aspect of running a business from mailroom to
boardroom.
- Finance & Accounting.We train qualified
Management Accountants, Bookkeepers and Payroll Managers.
- Information Technology. One of our jobs
is to manage and operate the Army's Management Information System
and Personnel Database.
But not from a distance. The specialist service provided
by Staff & Personnel Support Branch has to be delivered not
just in military bases in UK and abroad but more especially when
deployed on operations or training exercises overseas. That is why
all SPS officers and soldiers undertake the same basic military
training as every other officer and soldier and support every unit
of the British Army including the SAS and Parachute Regiment, the
Gurkhas, Infantry, Artillery and Logistic units around the world
from Australia to Zimbabwe - and every letter in between!
